The Lady

In years now gone, in a lonesome place

The Lady, she floated at an idled pace.

To other she told of the seas untrue,

Traveled by many, but Mastered by few.

Through hurricanes and gales and winters that chill,

She did her job bravely with an undying will.

In years of growing to a Lady she found

She was tired of riding she must settle down.

A Lady by day she's showing the way

So the waters of grey won't take you away.

Around she goes, cutting the night,

Telling the woes of the things out of sight.

When taller she grew, and brighter her light,

The Lady and crew were shining their might

All metal and glass, she knew not of fear.

For the Lady of class the ending draws near.

The Lady is dying her soul is set free

To roam the waters of a mighty sea.

She sings her warnings to sailors and souls

Who dare try to Master the Frying Pan Shoals.

A Lady by day she's showing the way

So the waters of grey won't take you away.

Around she goes, cutting the night,

Telling the woes of the things out of sight.

Oh, Lady by day, please show me the way

To safely set sail to another day.

I thank you, my Lady, for showing to me

Not to fear, but to love and respect the sea.
