Grandpa picks the banjo while I sit and strum
Back in the hills where my family's from.
Harmony comes easy while we sing and play.
We'll play for the greatest country stars someday
As we play the night away!
In front of the store in the middle of town
We would play our songs as the people gather round.
Pickin' strings an' stompin' feet the best that we could do
We'd play the songs the folks would know and even a couple new
As we play the night away!
I've since moved away to follow a dream
With memories of grandpa and me as a team.
Seems like Yesterday but was ten years ago
When the Lord said its time for old grandpa to go.
The Country store's still standing as it did so long before
But it don't seem the same since the music plays no more.
I go where grandpa's resting and tell him I'm alright
When I hear him pickin' banjo and singin' tenor light.
The harmony is tight as we play through the night.
Granpa picks the banjo while I sit and strum
Back in the hills where my family's from.
Harmony comes easy while we sing and play
We'll play for the greatest country stars someday
Yes! We'll play the night away!
Yes! We'll play the night away!
Yes! We'll play the night away!
